Point, Shoot, Retouch and Lable?

I disagree that the law would destroy photographic art because art has always been a changing entity and "art is in the eyes of the beholder". I believe that if society changed their views and standard of what beautiful is then the retouching is not necessary. Although in this argument their is seeded a much bigger problem and debate and that is government trying control business. Although i agree that these doctored photos set unreasonable expectations for young women, we can not be protected from everything. People have to be smart consumers and remember that these magazines and company's have their self-interest, and if they are going to sell more product with these retouched photos then they have a right to do so.
I believe in a perfect world that every one who alters or adds something to a piece of art deserves credit for their contribution. This is not a perfect world and when it comes down to it readers and viewers do not like to think of the photos that they view as retouched. I think that this is why usually only the photographer and the model get credit.

Home work

1) Exposure then white balance then vignetting. Fixing the exposure first to give better light which shows the colors better. White balance should be changed next because the light is good but the colors need adjustment. LAstly vignetting adds more depth to the photograph

Stetting one(a hike to photograph a rare animal)
-Find good footing(correct stance)

-Use power switch to activate your D70 SLR camera

- A fast shutter speed (200) is nessesary to capture the animals movement. This is done by using the main command dial and the changes can be viewed on the control panel.
-The down fall to using a fast shutter speed is that there isn't much light but this situation is easily remedied by using a larger aperture.( F4.5) allowing more light. This is done by scrolling with the sub-command dial.
-The white balance setting should be set to "sunny" because the photograph is being taken out side. this change is done by holding down the key with the letters WB above it and then scrolling through the settings using the main command dial and the control panel to find the little picture of a sun.
-An ISO of 200 would be where to start because of the abundance of natural light and colors. The Iso is set by holding down the button that says ISO and using the main command dial and the control panel.
-After you sight the animal adjust zoom and focus , take your photo and hike back so you can put your picture on your photo blog.

American dream or art world scheme?” Why do you think the film does not answer this question for us?

I believe that the film leaves this question open for interpretation. I think that the director did this because like the modern art that the film is based on every one views things with there own eyes in different ways. Its all about the perspective of the viewer. I think that the other reason is that there were not any facts to say that Marla did make the painting or that she did not. I believe that had the film answered the question of the painting orgins we as the viewers would not have thought about the film as much as we did because of the open ending. Thus acomplishing what every director wants.

My Kid Could do that (choice C)

The maker of the film did something that isn't comonly done by putting himself into the film. I believe that this added a twist to the usual documentary that we are all acustome to. Another element that made the documentary a sucess is that the story was developing as the documentary was being filmed. This made it more like a story to be followed along with.
In the car scene I believe that the director was deciding how he was going to end the film. The controversy had made it aperent to him that he had to pick a side and I think that it was difficult for him because he had gotten to know the family well. He thought it would be hard to tarnish the names of people that he had know as nice and honest. This is why he says that he would rather be stupid, so he didn't have to make the decision.
